Guild Charter
- History/Purpose:
Spectrum Blade and Spectrum Rage were forged from the collective desire of gay/lesbian/bi/trans WoW players, and their straight friends, to find a guild free of the bigotry and intolerance that seems to reign free elsewhere in the game, as it does in the real world. Though over 3 years old, Spectrum Blade (Alliance) and Spectrum Rage (Horde), are still growing steadily, as prospective members discover the existence of our GLBT Straight-friendly family, and seek us out, or are invited by existing members.
The reason for our guilds' existence is simple: To provide a fun, friendly, and supportive atmosphere for GLBT players and their straight allies to game in, and be themselves without fear of prejudice or homophobia. We do not consider ourselves a Raid guild, nor PvP guild, though we do hold scheduled raids.
Spectrum Blade
- Membership:
Unlike many WoW guilds, we currently have no complicated requirements for membership. No huge applications to fill out. No tests to answer. No race, class, level, or profession restrictions. Anyone, gay or straight, who has a legitimate desire for the tolerance, support, and friendship that our guilds offer, is welcome to seek membership. That does not, however, mean that we have no criteria for accepting new members.
There are specific qualities that our guild possesses in abundance: open minds, tolerance of alternate lifestyles and beliefs, honor, loyalty, maturity, and camaraderie. We ask that anyone who joins us possess these same qualities. Any members who create problems for the guild by demonstrating a lack of these characteristics will be warned, possibly demoted, or if the behavior is severe, will have their guild membership revoked.
We only have three steadfast requirements for membership.
1: All members must be at least 18 years of age. This is a mature guild after all, and we would prefer not to be accused of corrupting any impressionable minors.
2: All members must respect the differences of others, and especially be gay-friendly. Bigots in any form are not tolerated in the least and are not welcome in the guild. Any members who demonstrate prejudice towards a minority (race, spiritual path, sexual orientation, etc.) will likely be removed from membership post haste.
3:All individuals seeking membership into Spectrum Blade must register on this website and also post in the membership request forum.
Spectrum Blade Guild Hierarchy and Promotion Criteria:
Guild Leader: Jheryssa
Prince:
Has the same powers as Guild Leader except for the ability to disband the Guild (whew!). Acts as the Interim Guild Leader if he/she should be unavailable for extended periods of time. The Prince Rank can only be given by the Guild Leader and only one (1) person may hold the title at any time. This person is chosen by the Guild Leader only, based on knowledge that this person will be best suited as a temporary replacement.
Advisor: Officer. Full guild control rights to promote, demote, and remove members. Must have been an active guild member for at least six (6) months, and already hold the rank of Baron. Only members who have shown outstanding dedication and helpfulness in the guild may become Advisors. They are voted in by the existing officer core on a case by case basis and only when there is a vacant position. If a Advisor position becomes available, an announcement will be made on the Forums where members may submit an application.
Duke: This will be a rank for alts of current officers. The Duke rank will be given the same privileges as a Advisor.
Ambassador: This Rank is reserved for the Chieftain(s) of Spectrum Rage and all associated Alts.
Baron: Highest ranking non-officer. To be a Baron, one must be at least level 30, and have been an active participant in the guild for at least three (3) months. In order to be promoted to Baron, a Private Message must be sent to the Guild Leader via the forums once the requirements are met. Baron Rank has access to all tabs on the Guild Bank.
Knight: Full member. To be a Knight, one must be at least level 10, and have been an active participant in the guild at least a month. Knight Promotions are automatically done during Rank Maintenance, once a week. Knight Rank has access to some, but not all tabs on the Guild Bank.
Squire: Regular Member. Has gone through the probationary period. May be promoted to Knight if requirements are met. Squire Promotions are automatically done during Rank Maintenance, once a week. Squire Rank has access to some, but not all tabs on the Guild Bank.
Peasant: Probationary rank for new guild members. Must stay in the rank 2 weeks (without incident) before promotion. Peasants are not allowed alts, nor access to the Guild Bank.
Alt Rules:
There is currently no restrictions to the number of Alts any guild member in Spectrum Blade can have, beyond the following:
1. Peasants (those within their first two weeks in Spectrum Blade) are not allowed Alts until they reach Squire Rank.
2. "Mule" and Bank Toons are not to be brought into Spectrum Blade. Only active, "real" toons will be allowed in.
The process for adding an Alt to Spectrum Blade is as follows: Message (via /tell) an Officer in-game and ask them to add your toon. The Officer will check your main's rank, and assuming you are not a peasant, will add your toon. Courtesy is an important rule here; realize that we as Officers are playing too, and if one of us is in the middle of an Instance Run or something similar when you ask, it may be a few before we get to you. It's worth checking the Guild Tab on the Social Screen to make sure an Officer isn't in an instance before whispering them.
Additional Rules for Spectrum Blade:
1: Golden Rule: Have respect for everyone in Spectrum Blade and Spectrum Rage, including yourself! Save your poor Guild Leader and Officers some gray hairs and play nice.
2: Be respectful in all communications. Being disrespectful to anyone is unacceptable, and being disrespectful to an Officer is a very fast way to get yourself noticed (and not in a good way). If you have a problem with an Officer, please let Jheryssa or another Officer know via /tell. Joking and being semi-catty with each other is understandable, even encouraged, as long as all parties understand that what is said is in fun. When it crosses the line into genuine insults, or starts offending others, it's time to stop or take things into a private channel.
3: Please remember that this is a diverse guild and our members come from all walks of life. We may have a good deal of members who are part of the bear community and are interested in such; however, keep in mind that there are male and female members who are straight, bisexual or lesbian, and are here to play the game in a LGBT-friendly environment, not seek out sex-talk and the like. Please be respectful to them. Let us be clear...flirting is perfectly fine! In general, the conversation should be kept in an "R-rated" context at the maximum; if the conversation turns "NC-17," it's gone too far. Some people are not comfortable asking or saying anything when the conversation goes in a direction that makes them uneasy, though others might give a hint like "TMI" (too much information). What we ask is, when such requests are made to change topics, please respect them and don't argue the matter. The talk can be taken to whispers and/or other chat programs/websites; we also have the adult-oriented "spectrumone" channel created for these purposes, if you wish to use it. We are not trying to censor people...that truly is one of the last things we would want to do. But the truly last thing we would want is to make a guild founded on tolerance an uncomfortable place for any of our members. Just remember to respect the wishes of your other guild members, which is to be online and play the game first and make it a fun place to be.
4. Please try to avoid confrontations, especially with other guild members. We understand that some arguments may happen, but please do your best to keep drama to an absolute minimum. If you have a disgreement, please take it out of main chat channels and do your best to resolve things peacefully. Whispers are a very good way of saving embarrassment. If an Officer does get involved, please do your best to work with him/her in resolving the issue. They're just trying to keep the peace. Don't make their job harder than it has to be.
5: Help in this guild is freely given. We do not sell equipment, bags, mats, or services to each other. If you must sell an item, do it on the Auction House or in the Trade channels. The only exception to this rule is if there is a cost in aquiring the items for those who need help, such as buying mats for enchantments. Then it's reasonable to ask that they help with the cost.
6: There will be no reselling of items or services that have been given to a member by the bank or another member, unless you have made arrangements with the person providing the item or services! At no time will someone sell something on the Auction House that they have received from the bank or another member. If you decided not to use it then send it back!
7: Guild notes for each character should contain information such as "Main" if it's a main character, "Alt of: " if it's an alt, and the character's main trade skills.
8: Any toons shown to be inactive for a period of two months or greater will be removed from the guild. If you know you're going to be inactive for that long but wish to remain in the guild, you must let an Officer know ahead of time.
9: No spamming for items or help in guild chat. Asking a few times is fine.
10: Do not ask the higher level members to help Power Level you. Those who are available may agree to assist you in a tough spot, but they're not there to give you a free ride. Half the fun of the game is the challenge! Use the forums to post your requests for Instancing.
11: Be active in the forums. This is where the true directions of the guild are decided. Speak your mind. Please make it a point to check them at least every 2 weeks.
Spectrum Rage
- Membership:
Unlike many WoW guilds, we currently have no complicated requirements for membership. No huge applications to fill out. (just a simple one when you apply for membership to the website.) No tests to answer.
Rage has three requirements for membership.
3: All individuals seeking membership into Spectrum Rage must register on this website and also post in the membership request forum.
Note: Everyone starts at the rank of Runner. Runners have a two week probationary period and are not allowed alts. After an incident free two weeks are up you will be promoted to Outrider and allowed alts.
Mission Statement:
Spectrum Rage is not only a guild, it is a community of like-minded individuals who share the gaming values of respect, courtesy, support and cooperation. As such, it is expected that members of Spectrum Rage will share these values and participate in the community in a positive manner.
Because Spectrum Rage prides itself on developing a sense of community among its members, disruptive behavior or behavior that runs contrary to the community or values of the community may result in removal from the guild.
Regarding Guild Chat:
We don't feel it is productive or necessary to attempt to create or enforce rules to regulate the conversation in guild chat. We would encourage everyone to be respectful of others and "tone down" a racey conversation if someone expresses distaste. We would also encourage someone to speak with an officer if he or she is not comfortable asking the current guild chat topic to be dropped themselves.
If repeated attempts at requesting a "change of topic" are ignored and an officer is not online to address the issue immediately, it would be appropriate to send a brief in-game-mail or PM on this site to an officer so we could have the opportunity to privately speak with those who insist on disrespecting their fellow guild mates.
We encourage everyone to speak their minds and have fun; but at the same time be courteous to your fellow guild mates.
Spectrum Rage Guild Hierarchy and Promotion Criteria:
Chieftain: Spectrum Rage Guild Leader - Talulah
Elder Seer: Gag and Impishunoga
Co-leader(s) of Spectrum Rage, their alts, and alts of the Chieftain. The Elder Seer shares the same responsibilities and authority as the Chieftain and is considered his equal.
Elder: Highest rank of officer. Reserved for Spectrum Rage Officers. Full guild control rights to add, promote, demote, and remove members. This is a rank that is bestowed after all current officers of Elder rank or higher have voted and all agree the rank is deserved.
When an Elder position becomes available, candidates are nominated by the guild's current officers. Nominations are based on several criteria which include: loyalty to the guild and the ideals expressed in the guild charter, mature and helpful interactions with fellow guild members, knowledge of the game, frequent forum participation, and regular in-game availability. Elder candidates must be active guild members in good standing. If anyone has questions regarding officership in Spectrum Rage, they should contact the Chieftain or an Elder Seer.
Seer: Retired Elders
Treasury: Guild Banks
Warlord: Must have been active in the guild for at least 3 months or more. This Rank is an honorary rank for veterans of Spectrum Rage.
Outrider: Regular Member. Has gone through the probationary stage.
Runner: Probationary rank for new guild members. Must stay in the rank 2 weeks (without incident) before promotion. Runners are not allowed alts.
NOTE: After a player has been non-active for 2 months (1 month for Runners), they will be removed from the guild. This is just a bit of house cleaning and you are welcome to rejoin when you return. So, if you will not be able to be around for 2 months or more please let an Elder know.
Additional Rules:
1. No spamming for items or help in guild chat.
2. Do not ask for higher level members to help Power level you.
3. There will be no reselling of items or services that have been given to a member by the bank or another member, unless you have made arrangement with the person providing the item or services! At no time will someone sell something on the Auction House that they have received from the bank. If you decided not to use it then send it back! Also any bags you get from the guild bank need to be recycled after you upgrade. By this I mean send them back to be redistributed or pass them along to other members who need them. Do not sell them!
4. No advertising and selling of items or services in guild chat. Guild chat is not your personal trade channel and should not be treated as so. If you want to sell stuff use the AH!! In addition to this, do not offer items on guildchat and then when someone response wanting the item give them a price. This is not only tacky but just plain rude to your follow guildmates.
5. No begging for gold from guild members. Period.
6. Runners are not allowed alts. Alts can be added after promotion to Outrider.
Spectrum Rage Guild Hunt Etiquette
Mind you each group is different and if your group decides on a different way of doing things than that is fine. These are just friendly guidelines that I expect you to follow in normal guild hunts.
1. Do not pull when you are a caster, that's what tanks are for.
2. Designate one puller and stick with that puller.
3. If you're a caster and get aggro on you, let the group know and stay in one spot.
4. Wait to loot till after all the fighting is done.
5. Do not roll for something you can't use. If everyone passes on the item, then it's up for grabs. Also you can use the Need before Greed loot setting that only allows people to roll if they can use the item.
6. Get with the rest of the group on how to handle chests. A good idea is to roll for it by typing /rand 100.
7. Just like #2, don't loot chests until all the fighting is done.
8. Do not move on until everyone is ready. Let your casters get their mana back and rebuff as necessary.
9. Wait to rez until all the fighting is over.
10. Healers need to watch the party member's bars.
11. Casters should manage their mana and not blow it all on a pull.
12. Coordinate saps and sheeping with the rest of your group so they don't attack it.
13. Once combat is over, look around and make sure nobody else is getting attacked.
14. If you have to leave the group, let everyone know before you do it and don't do it in the middle of a fight.
15. Help the healers help you by bringing along heal potions for you to drink.
16. Do not leave your group behind! If you notice someone has fallen behind and aren't responding, wait for them.
17. If your group is getting slaughtered, don't leave them to fend for themselves. Stick with them and help.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. – Herm Albright
